Letter: Representatives should listen to us
Wednesday, June 6, 2007 | 7:10 a.m.
Walter E. Gunther's June 3 letter, "Sense of fairness lost in today's America," presented a situation that is multiplied by the millions and helps to partially explain why Americans are struggling more than ever. Hard-working, legal, taxpaying Americans are carrying those illegal millions (receiving free medical care) on their backs with no end in sight. When did Americans and their welfare take a back seat to illegals?
Those 12-plus million currently here are on the verge of being legalized; the ramifications of that are mind-boggling. It doesn't matter how they spin it, it's amnesty, and I am against any efforts to dump this burden on all legal Americans.
Our arrogant, incompetent, wealthy, above-the-rest-of-us liars/legislators won't bear that load ... what's left of the middle class will, for generations to come! Raising their right hands and swearing under oath to uphold America, her laws, her values and her people were pompous, meaningless gestures; it's time our representatives listened to the demands of the American people and vote/act in their best interests now.
