Letter: Lack of money, power means a bleak future
Tuesday, June 5, 2007 | 6:53 a.m.
Money is power, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
With the middle class eroding and power being concentrated more and more within the upper 5 percent of all Americans, how does the future look?
With large and small public companies being taken private behind closed doors, out of scrutiny of the public and regulators, how does the future look?
With our local, state and federal government piling on huge debt that requires payback from the public, how does the future look?
With energy in short supply and world competition for all natural resources getting fiercer by the hour, how does the future look?
With public education in disarray and barely 70 percent of students graduating high school, how does the future look?
With 1 million low-skilled, barely educated illegal immigrants sneaking across our boarders every year, how does the future look?
With health care availability on the decline and costs rising more than paychecks, how does the future look?
Who will step up at all levels of business and government and finally begin to resolve these and other serious issues? Hillary Clinton once said, "It takes a village," and this doesn't apply just to children anymore.
