Letter: Don’t award illegal immigrants amnesty
Tuesday, June 5, 2007 | 6:53 a.m.
We should not be rewarding criminals (illegal immigrants) with a type of amnesty. I don't mind immigrants coming here legally. However, these people broke the law to get here.
No matter what excuses they have for breaking the law to get here, they are criminals. Every time an American breaks the law he or she is arrested and prosecuted. What makes illegal immigrants above the law?
It is not fair to the American people. These criminals should be arrested and sent back to whatever country they came from or sentenced to prison and then sent back after doing their time for breaking our laws. Our laws are not meaningless, are they?
The illegal immigrants should at least go back home (all illegals, not just the head of household) and apply to come here legally just like everyone else. Illegal immigrants are being given special privileges for breaking our laws.
I for one don't know any American who thinks he should be rewarded for breaking our laws. Congress could save a lot of time and energy trying to pass immigration reform. All officials have to do is enforce current immigration law, secure our borders, prosecute employers of illegal immigrants and arrest, prosecute and deport illegal immigrants (criminals).
One way to capture a lot of illegals at once is send the police, immigration enforcement and, if need be, our National Guard to the protests in favor of illegal immigration. This way we can arrest several illegals/criminals at once while they are protesting against the American people/government.
