Rarely have so few decided something so important - well, sort of important. One of the nastiest Las Vegas City Council elections in years will be decided Tuesday, and from the looks of early voting, a remarkably small sliver of the electorate will determine who succeeds Lawrence Weekly on Oscar's Council. Stacie Truesdell, a lawyer with ties to His Honor, and Ricki Barlow, a city employee who worked for Weekly, have engaged in an unrelenting mudfest that surely has turned a low turnout into an even lower one. Barlow's domestic violence charges and Truesdell's big lobbying clients have been the focus of the race. Whoever wins will enter public office as damaged goods with a lot to do to surmount the campaign caricature.
