Letter: Vick’s actions are unconscionable

Tuesday, July 31, 2007 | 7:16 a.m.

Michael Vick has been indicted, he has pleaded not guilty and he is awaiting trial. But from information made available so far, there is no excuse - none - for his involvement in this brutal, repulsive, dog-breeding "business."

I don't care that he is kind to his mother, remembers where he came from through charitable gifts, has proven himself athletically, or any other assets he may possess. I don't care that this role model has just "tarnished" a treasured sport and those tied to him and his endorsements. I don't care what's acceptable in his lifestyle.

I care about the thousands upon thousands of animals, in this case pit bulls, who are used for bloody, repulsive entertainment.

To those of you who take part in any way, is there no shame? Do you not feel any blame for what your children see and learn from you? The violence and cruelty you endorse? How dare you!

So Mr. Vick, and those like you, I'm outraged, and I can only hope others will refuse to allow this animal abuse and torture issue to fade away.
