Letter: Any ideas on how to stop madness in Iraq?
Friday, July 27, 2007 | 7:28 a.m.
I know I am not alone in expressing the extreme frustration a whole host of Americans feel with what is happening to our country and - most important - what is happening to our brave and mighty soldiers in Iraq.
How long can we go on as a nation and not rise up against this?
Many of us were hopeful an election mandate would help correct and ameliorate the horrific abuses of power and deception that are going on in the executive branch of our government. I don't believe the executive branch understands the sentiment of many Americans because the president and his vice president are so cloistered in their own world and so self-deceived.
My question to your readers is what can we do besides praying fervently that the blinders fall off our elected officials, that they see the light and stop taking us, our brave soldiers and this precious country down the tubes? A whole bunch of us have written our elected officials over and over to apparently limited avail.
Who wants this war to continue on and on? It is something that cannot be stopped by military might. The people of our country have to matter. Collectively our strength and prayer must be marshal ed so that this madness stops.
If anyone can think of anything else constructive to do, please write a letter to this editor. In the meantime, let us pray that our president brings our troops home and starts developing some type of rapport with many of the countries of this world that are so alienated by this unnecessary and prolonged invasion.
Our God hears our prayers! Rest assured He does and this is something we must do with all the prevailing strength within us. God bless this great country and Lord, please turn this around! Our hands may seem tied, but Yours are not.
