The state GOP had an interesting lead item in the weekly wrap-up of headlines it e-mails to subscribers. "Gibbons speaks out against Yucca Mountain drilling," it said, giving a misleading view of the story that gave the governor fits this week because of criticism that he actually allowed drilling to go on. That's funny enough. What's even better is the GOP source for the story - KRNV, the NBC affiliate in Reno. A link goes to the Web site where the "story" is posted. The same "story" is posted on the site of the local affiliate, KVBC. Click on this "story" on putative news sites and what do you find the stations have done? Pasted the Gibbons news release onto their sites. No wonder the GOP used it as propaganda. It is.
