Letter: Unprovoked war’s wake of destruction
Friday, July 20, 2007 | 7:22 a.m.
Regarding Frank O'Neill's July 17 letter to the editor, "Let history be our guide out of Iraq":
I remember Vietnam. We lost that military exercise and deserted our South Vietnamese allies, but we should not have been there in the first place, either.
Now we have launched an unprovoked attack against a sovereign nation and decimated the Iraqi people, all to get back at a leader who m the Iraqis had no more control over than we, the American people, have over ours.
War is not just about death; it is about destroyed lives, bodies and souls. It leaves no one touched by it unscathed. This administration talks of family values and human rights, yet tears families apart and honors no code of ethics whatsoever.
There is a madman in the White House dictating to Americans and, surprisingly, it is not the president. Without a doubt Vice President Dick Cheney is at the helm.
