Letter: Let the Iraqis solve their own problems
Thursday, July 19, 2007 | 7:24 a.m.
Here is a scenario to think about :
We would like to instill democracy in Palestine. Let's insert the U.S. Army into the cauldron that exists between Hamas and Fatah. They are only two different political parties, both of the same religion. Would anyone in their right mind consider doing this? I think not. Iraq is the same , only worse. Different politics and different sects.
We wouldn't have gone in had we known. Now we know. Don't you think it ' s time to get out - and quickly?
Israel declared itself a nation in 1948 and it fought on its own against five Arab armies.
The bottom line is that if the Iraqis wants a country , let them fight for one and solve their problems without us.
Let's stop this charade .
