Letter: Bush regime similar to former USSR

Let me get this straight : Under the Bush regime, career lawyers with the Office of Civil Rights are shunted aside in favor of political decision makers, U.S. attorneys are vetted based on conservative political credentials, government scientists are forbidden from giving speeches on global warming, and now the surgeon general is forbidden from speaking at events that are not supportive of the correct political agenda.

Am I the only one who remembers the former Soviet Union also embedding political minders into every segment of government to make sure all of government spoke the party line?
