As day’s luck bailed out, they faced making bail
Tuesday, July 10, 2007 | 6:56 a.m.
Meet the luckless: the 270 or so individuals who, on what was supposed to be one of the luckier days this century - 7/7/07 - found themselves clinking not champagne flutes but handcuffs.
While couples cooed outside the Clark County Marriage Bureau, waiting to marry en masse on this most magnificent of Saturdays, other Clark County residents were busy getting arrested.
Mainly, on charges connected with drugs. And driving under the influence. And domestic violence - battery.
Yes, as gamblers gathered to wager everything on a quirk of the Gregorian calendar, some Las Vegas residents were sinking drinks, then getting pulled over. Or loitering for prostitution. Or trespassing. Or planning a burglary. Mainly in the late night/early morning hours, when one presumes black cats are out, crossing paths. Or it's finally cool enough to commit a crime. (There was a lull about noon. Lunch?)
Yet funnily enough, it was a pretty average day for arrests.
Here's a look at what the unlucky were nabbed for. Lucky for you, it's laid out in this chart.
