Letter: Bashing president is bad habit for liberals

Gary Musser's July 4 letter, "Bush picks bad time to come to Libby's aid," complains that Bush has hit a new low because he commuted Scooter Libby's sentence on a day when Russian President Vladimir Putin was in the United States.

Musser's comment exemplifies the myopic views that the extreme left have come to embrace. In essence, President Bush cannot do anything right, ever.

Perhaps President Bush was thinking of other days to commute the sentence but did not want to upstage Paris Hilton getting out of jail, Michael Jackson moving to a new home, record heat in Vegas, etc.

Just when, Mr. Musser, should the president have made the announcement? Perhaps on the day the new Democratic Congress actually passed some meaningful legislation as the Democrats promised the American public when they were elected? I am sure that would suit Mr. Musser because then Libby would probably never be off the hook.
