In Norway, the moose is known as the king of the forest. And in Canada, the moose is one of the national animals (the beaver is the other ). But here in Nevada, the Moose is of no consequence. Or so Gov. Jim Gibbons decided, snubbing veteran Assemblyman Morse "Moose" Arberry in favor of Las Vegas Councilman Lawrence Weekly to replace Yvonne Atkinson Gates on the Clark County Commission. Poor Moose. He must really feel like a Bullwinkle, especially after being one of the few Democratic elected officials to ignore a Culinary Union admonition and attend the Inaugural Ball at The Venetian. He sucks up to the governor and gets the shaft? A sad tale, to be sure. Wonder how Moose will treat the governor now?
