Letter: Attorney general’s silence speaks loudly

Friday, Jan. 26, 2007 | 8:44 a.m.

Regarding Paul Krugman's Jan. 21 column:

The first paragraph is very scary. He writes: "There's something happening here, and what it is seems completely clear: The Bush administration is trying to protect itself by purging independent prosecutors."

The cover-up of this move is given the ring of truth (oh yeah, sure) by the Bush administration's stooge, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, at a Senate hearing, who refused to answer how many other attorneys have been asked to resign, calling it a personnel matter.

Krugman then asks in his column: "Why then are the prosecutors that the Bush administration appointed suddenly being pushed out? The likely answer is that for the first time the administration is really worried about where corruption investigations might lead."

How many more sneaky schemes do we have to put up with from this administration?

I say it is time to start to put impeachment proceedings into high gear. Get rid of President Bush. By the time Vice President Dick Cheney gets his act together, we should have the right administration in place.
