Letter: War is necessary to defeat world evils
Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 | 7:03 a.m.
Enough Bush hatred from your letter writers is enough! I would like them to consider the following:
We are in a 40- to 50-year struggle to defeat radical Islam. It doesn't make any difference whether the president or Congress is Democratic or Republican.
Radical Islam won't go away - they've already attacked New York City twice. North Vietnam didn't chase us to our shores when we left South Vietnam. Radical Islam is already here. I like the idea of killing them elsewhere instead of on our soil.
Talking to the subhuman fanatics will not bring an end to hostility. Period.
Give peace a chance? I suggest that we give war a chance, and not the politically correct variety of war that we're currently fighting.
We are not sending our children to war; they are volunteers. God bless their heroism.
It really is about oil. If we pull out and let Iran get control of the Iraqi oil fields, you'll see gas prices at $6 and $8 a gallon. Most of you will then demand that we drop bombs on Tehran to get the prices back down.
Let's start teaching World War I and World War II in our classrooms again so that our kids understand what evil is, and what sacrifices we need to make to build a world that doesn't plan our demise. It's time they knew world events trump who will be the next "American Idol" winner.
So you hate George Bush, huh? Get over it. I had to get over Bill Clinton. He's the president who wouldn't take the action to protect us when he should have.
