Letter: Bush, Cheney should listen to their critics

Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007 | 7:08 a.m.

Many editorials and public opinion letters in our local newspapers express agreement that our "decider in charge" and his sidekick Dick Cheney are the worst leaders in our nation's history.

Regarding the horrific Iraq debacle, and the decider's "plan" to send more troops to their deaths (that's right), I suggest that they consider listening, and maybe taking a lesson from, those local opinions.

We must realize that in all of his greatness, President Bush only speaks Texan, and might not understand Nevadan, but we Las Vegans know that you cannot win if you double up your bet when you are losing, don't we? But, alas, as Bush himself has stated that he doesn't read the paper, he'll never get it.

At the same time, though, we must also carefully consider that, from the perspective of people who consider the business aspects of this war, like the Bushes, the Cheneys, the Halliburtons, and others who are heavily invested in the defense industries and the oil business, they are not losing, are they? Maybe that is why they want to "increase their bets" by sending more troops. Wake up, people! They are using our troops as "chips."
