Letter: Two Bushes cut from the same cloth
Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007 | 7:02 a.m.
Some things seem to run in families. Take the Bush family, for example.
George H.W. Bush, a lame duck, dumped our troops into Somalia, leaving the mess for President Bill Clinton to fix. Then the GOP blamed Clinton for "Blackhawk Down."
Like father like son, George W. Bush started a senseless war, also without an exit strategy, which he is now poised to pass on to his successor to clean up his mess.
The Bushes seem also to have trouble with the truth. Bush senior said, "Read my lips, no new taxes." Within a few weeks, he raised them. Junior Bush campaigned on the fact that he wasn't "into nation-building." But guess what? That is precisely what he is doing.
