Letter: Report found what teachers see daily

Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 | 7:12 a.m.

As a teacher in the Clark County School District, it doesn't take an independent report putting Nevada education at the bottom nationally to know how bad things really are today in the classrooms.

Teachers have to deal with all the problems this report exposes on a daily basis, plus many more that the report does not cover. And the worst aspect of this problem is there is no hope for any change on the horizon.

The reason for our situation is directly attributed to the people in control of the educational system. They are steered by blockhead politicians, using blockhead politics following blockhead agendas and egos that are designed by special-interest groups with a high demand and need for service-type workers and no need for a highly educated workforce .

So lip service is given to the community about how aware the Clark County School District leadership is of these problems cited in any report, and the classroom teachers are simply left to "deal with it." That is how education is dealt with in Clark County and Nevada.
