F. Jay Harrell - in his Feb. 21 letter, "Global temperatures have always changed" - is correct on most of his facts, especially since they were taken completely out of context. Mr. Harrell showed that he has absolutely no concept about the temperature cycles that the Earth's climate goes through. He has insufficient or no knowledge of the effect of the Industrial Revolution on the climate. He does not appear to know that the polar ice caps are melting at an alarming rate, nor does he appear to know the consequences that will appear before the ocean rises enough to concern him.
I wonder how the children of future generations are going to "acclimatize" to every coastal city (plus thousands more on lowlands) in the world being submerged under the sea level that he is not worried about.
Mr. Harrell should read some books, hopefully about climatology and the other geosciences.
I bet that all of the "big business" barons have second and maybe third homes high in the mountains. Those homes will be wonderful - until the rising sea levels trigger the next glaciation (read the books).
