Letter: Remember that we have a Constitution

One can only assume that Linda Schrick's passion has overwhelmed her good judgment when, in her Feb. 3 letter, she advocates enlisting European governments to take action against the current administration. A moment's clear-headed reflection should reveal that soliciting foreign intervention with a sitting government is nothing short of treason.

Ms. Schrick should also recognize that she is a citizen of a country whose Constitution has anticipated the potential for abuse of power by its chief executive. If President Bush is, indeed, guilty of "crimes against humanity," it is the responsibility of the House of Representatives to draw up the bill of particulars and impeach him so that he can be tried in the Senate.

It would do well for Ms. Schrick to remember that she lives in a country governed not by the desires of foreign governments but by elected representatives who are bound by the Constitution and beholden to the will of the people.

Regardless of Ms. Schrick's level of frustration with the current administration, her suggestion is appallingly inappropriate.
