Letter: Truck law would make driving safer
Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007 | 7:09 a.m.
I travel our freeway system frequently and it's like a racetrack with no rules for autos and large trucks in the fast or passing lanes. If you are not exceeding the speed limit by 5 to 15 mph, a large (usually out-of-state) truck will come up to your rear bumper and either flash his lights or blow his air horn to get you to move over so he can pass you.
Our state and local legislators must pass a law like our neighbors in California have. Trucks should stay in the right lane and not exceed 55 mph within city limits. Last year we had several truck accidents within our cities, some resulting in death. I feel this law would help unclog our freeways and also make them safer.
