John Katsilometes monitors changes - which could include monitors - in the ‘Le Reve’ Theater

"Le Reve" is French for "the dream," and the show at Wynn Las Vegas is going to sleep for a while. Like, a month.
But after its slumber, which will last from March 5 to April 5, the Wynn showcase will enjoy revamped surroundings. The Le Reve Theater will be renovated, with the most telling changes being fewer seats (dropping from its current 2,087 capacity to 1,600) and innovative perks offered to VIPs.
Plans for the entire back row of the theater are to feature champagne service and possibly monitors that will display the performance's underwater scenes. Cameras would also shoot footage from backstage and from the opening high above the theater, for when performers plunge into the water. Tickets and details will be confirmed this month.
Also, over the past couple weeks, creator Franco Dragone has been spotted around the theater. In October Steve Wynn bought the rights to the show from Dragone and assumed creative control of the production.

One of the giants of Chicago Bears history, William "The Refrigerator" Perry, is in Las Vegas today . Twenty-two years after he scored a touchdown in Chicago's 46-10 mauling of the New England Patriots (a feat that famously escaped Bears legend Walter Payton), "The Fridge" will be gripping a Sharpie and signing souvenir helmets to raise money for Opportunity Village. Perry, appearing as a rep for online vehicle research search engine Carfax, will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Las Vegas Convention Center. He will sign his name and sell the helmets for a suggested donation of $25 apiece, with all proceeds going to OV. The event is open to the 30,000-35,000 visitors to the 90th Annual National Auto Dealers Association Convention and Exposition, but not to the public. ...
In the annual Scripps Howard Celebrity Super Bowl Poll, Flamingo headliner Wayne Newton likes the Bears today, 21-7. "How can you go against the Monsters of the Midway defense? I've given some of my best performances in Chicago. It's always been my kind of town." (Maybe Newton can suit up at quarterback for the Bears this afternoon.) Penn & Teller like Indy, 28-17, which is more in line with the predictions of most of the 100 celebrities polled (71 picked the Colts). Since launching the survey in 1990, only once has a celeb aced the final score: Martina Navratilova picked Denver to beat Green Bay 31-24 in 1998. ...
More from the soothsayers, we would be remiss if we did not remind that before the season, uber-manager Bernie Yuman picked his Miami Dolphins to win the Super Bowl, noting that they would be playing for the championship in their home stadium. Bold pick, but the Dolphins failed to reach the playoffs (they did, however, beat the Bears in Chicago during the regular season). Meanwhile, Yuman continues to wear his Dolphin tube socks every day. ...
LV Hilton Executive Sports Book Director Jay Kornegay likes the "under" proposition bet on total sacks, which at his place is 3 1/2. Over at Caesars Palace, Assistant Vice President of Race and Sports Chuck Esposito has posted an imaginative "crossover" prop, where you can parlay the winner of the Super Bowl with the winner of the Daytona 500, set for Feb. 18. Esposito likes the Colts and Jimmie Johnson at 7-to-1. ...
Trivia time! Playing off the great Super Bowl trivia list compiled last week by Sun sports columnist Ron Kantowski, we ask: In 1993, the year Michael Jackson performed with a choir of 3,500 children during halftime of Super Bowl XXVII in Pasadena, Calif., who tossed the ceremonial coin at the start of the game?
British sports books listed eventual victor Manchester as a huge underdog - 20-to-1 - to win England's first "supercasino" (which would be, at least, a 54,000-square-foot project that would easily fit inside the MGM Grand). The announcement that Manchester was the upset winner led to a curious statement from British Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell, who said, "Let me be very clear: Las Vegas is not coming to Great Britain." And let me be the first to say that what happens in Manchester, stays in Manchester. ...
The Griffin at Las Vegas Boulevard and Fremont Street (look for the glowing neon sign near the former 7-Eleven) opened Thursday night, and not a moment too soon as its liquor order arrived eight hours later than expected and nearly pushed back the opening one more day. Hours at the Griffin are 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. until Tuesday, when its 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily ...
