Letter: Let’s not gamble with global warming

Friday, Feb. 2, 2007 | 7:09 a.m.

I'm not sure what to make of Dan Pursley's Feb. 1 letter regarding global warming, "Just a whole lot of guesswork going on."

I, for one, do not plan to wait around until the end to see if the global warming concerns are right or wrong. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that, at the least, we all need to make significant changes in our energy use patterns.

The outcome of global warming is just a wee bit more significant than the outcome of a Super Bowl game, and I really don't think Mr. Pursley's analogy holds. Even if it did, one can be sure that neither the Colts nor the Bears will be simply guessing and waiting. Both teams will be quite proactive.

With regard to global warming, we should be proactive as well.
