Letter: Only a Democrat can fix Bush’s economy
Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 | 1:32 a.m.
Next year, when Americans vote for a new president, they should ask themselves one question: Am I better off today than I was eight years ago? This time the answer will be a resounding no.
Republicans have damaged the economy many times, but this economy is the worst I can remember in my 60 years of life. It took eight years for Bill Clinton to straighten out the mess the previous President Bush left him. This time, I don't know how long it will take. But I do know one thing for sure: Only a Democrat can straighten out this mess.
Yes, "it's the economy, stupid," a statement that stands true today. The difference this time is that more Americans have no health care. The Republican plan is to save for your own. I hope Americans will remember this when they vote for the next president.
