Welcome to Smith's World.

This is the domain of Mike Smith, the Sun's longtime editorial cartoonist. Inside this world, as demonstrated by the cartoons on these pages, the news of the day takes on a whole new perspective.

Take global warming, for example. Through stories, readers are informed about this issue from an objective news perspective. But in Smith's World, an image of a snowman made of sticks, a scarf and a hat - no snow - gives that information a new image. First it's funny, then it's thought-provoking.

That's the daily experience in Smith's World. A quick laugh is often a reader's initial response. But just as often, the initial response is reflection, as the cartoon instantly provides a deeper understanding of a serious news story.
