Letter: Gibbons’ ideology unrealistic for state
Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007 | 12:39 p.m.
The Las Vegas Valley's population, according to news reports, has increased to 2 million and Nevada's yearly increase in population leads the nation at 2.9 percent. In light of this, do any of you, besides Gov. Jim Gibbons, believe the state can freeze its spending? Not only freeze expenditures, but also make major cuts across the board?
It defies reason to think satisfactory services can continue with these severe cuts. Isn't there some person or group who can clue the governor in to the absurdity of his viewpoint? Since he will be in office for the next three years, it's going to get only worse.
What happens when you cut all the meat away from agencies and programs? You get a skeleton, an entity in name only, and that's what we Nevadans have to look forward to.
