Letter: CIA’s excuse raises security questions
Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007 | 1:17 a.m.
Wow. CIA Director Michael Hayden says the reason for the destruction of all those torture tapes is that they "posed a serious security risk ... Were they ever to leak, they would permit identification of your CIA colleagues who had served in the program ..."
Aside from the obvious question of why this kind of evidence was destroyed, doesn't it bother anybody that the CIA doesn't possess the ability to trust its own security? Yet we put the agency in charge of the security of our nation?
