The following product recalls have been announced:
About 66,000 Oregon Scientific weather radios, manufactured by Oregon Scientific Inc. and made in China, because the radios could fail to receive National Weather Service alert signals in certain areas of the country. No incidents or injuries have been reported. The recall involves several models. The radios were sold nationwide through online retailers, catalogs and retail stores. Consumers should contact the company to receive a free replacement. Details: by phone at 800-203-4921; by Web at http://www2.oregonscientific.com/recall-front.asp or http://www.cpsc.gov.

About 500 toddler and youth nylon bucket hats, distributed by Paramount Apparel International Inc. and made in China, because the drawstring on the hat poses as a strangulation hazard to children. No injuries have been reported. A label sewn into the inside of the hat reads "Bass Pro Shops." Bass Pro Shops retail stores nationwide exclusively sold the product. Consumers should contact Paramount Apparel to receive a refund or replacement item. Details: by phone at 800-255-4287, ext. 267; by Web at http://www.cpsc.gov.

About 154,000 Gerber EAB or Exchange-A-Blade pocket knives, manufactured in China and imported by Gerber Legendary Blades, a division of Fiskars Brands Inc., because the back of the blade can slide past the blade support while the knife is in use, putting users at risk of cutting themselves. The company has received eight reports of people cutting themselves in this manner, including several who required stitches. Details: by phone at 877-204-5510; by Web at http://www.gerbergear.com or http://www.cpsc.gov.

About 1,500 AGA swivels for scuba diving masks, manufactured in the United States by M&J Engineering, because the swivels could separate from the mask while the user is diving, resulting in a sudden loss of air supply. This poses a risk of decompression sickness due to rapid ascent or drowning. The company has received one report of swivels separating, but no reports of injuries. Details: by phone at 888-794-8351; by Web at http://www.mj-engineering.com/ or http://www.cpsc.gov; by e-mail at sales@omniswivel.com.
