Letter: Bush sadly silent on homeownership crisis
Monday, Aug. 27, 2007 | 7:11 a.m.
At the beginning of President George W. Bush's second term, he touted a program to expand homeownership. He said, "Homeownership remains the largest and best investment a family can make."
He has been on vacation in Crawford, Texas, on another show of concern about Americans. The pundits are right - he is a lame duck president in every sense of the word.
Does he worry about people being evicted from their homes? Where is his program today when foreclosure rates are reaching an all-time high since the days of the Great Depression?
This disaster is the thing that happens when we have a president who is the president for the Military /Industrial Complex and Corporate America while ignoring the needs and plight of the average Mr. and Mrs. America.
