Letter: Noise from planes affects whole valley

Whiners in the northwest like Marc Jeric ("Way of life ruined by planes taking off," Aug. 21) , who constantly complain about the right-turn takeoffs of jet planes out of McCarran International Airport, get little sympathy from the rest of us in the valley.

Is there any place here where there isn't plane noise?

Whether you live near McCarran, Nellis Air Force Base or the North Las Vegas and Henderson airports, you have planes flying overhead. I live in the landing approach of general aviation and small passenger jets using the north/south McCarran runway. I can either be stressed and annoyed by those planes flying overhead, or ignore them and go about my business.

I choose to ignore them and would suggest that Mr. Jeric do the same .

Regarding his suggestion about elected officials overruling the Federal Aviation Administration, forget about it. If local politicians could decide whether planes could fly over their constituents, you'd have to close every airport in America.
