Tackle with a woman’s touch

.

With all due respect to Hillary Clinton, if it's tackle football rather than political change you are seeking, then these are your girls.

Or should I say "girlz "?

The Las Vegas Showgirlz will kick off their second women's football campaign against the SoCal Scorpions at 7 tonight at Desert Pines High School in a 100-yard outdoor war that should make Helen Reddy proud and possibly wince at the same time.

The Showgirlz and their rivals in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pads - aka the Women's Professional Football League - are here to say you don't have to be a man or a boy to punt, pass or kick a football.

"I love everything about contact sports: the discipline, the competition, the unity and the craving I get to play again the next season," says Showgirlz defensive back Cory Russo-Beynon, sounding a lot like Ronnie Lott during his San Francisco 49ers heyday.

Make no mistake about it: These girlz just want to have fun. And to hit somebody upside the helmet, should the opportunity arise.
