Letter: Current politicians do not inspire hope
Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007 | 7 a.m.
Why can't I feel confident and secure with our current politicians? I wait and wait for the next guy to follow through on his promises to have a value system, to actually care about America, but every day all I see are greed and hunger for power. It turns my stomach.
Here is some of what I think should be done:
Seal the borders and let the illegal immigrants who are already here stay. Stop spending our children's Medicare and Social Security benefits. Provide health care for those who cannot afford it. Give vouchers to students to choose their school. Hold public schools accountable so standards will increase.
Our mothers used to give us an allowance and tell us not to spend it in one place. This principle needs to be applied to the war in Iraq. Why are we using all our resources in one place?
Unfortunately, underneath many of our politicians' decisions is the root of all evil - money! Please, politicians, make your decisions based on country, integrity and morality, and stop lining your pockets.
I am 35 years old . I don't want to give up on our political leaders. Please give me faith, give me hope.
