Letter: Medicare, Medicaid are in dire condition
Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007 | 7:15 a.m.
Doctors are defecting from Medicaid, and Medicare is denying benefits we used to have, such as tests, out patient procedures and supplies. If this continues, it won't be long before we will have no coverage at all.
It is time for people on Medicare and Medicaid to get active and vocal by contacting their Republican senators to begin supporting a bill passed by the House to stop the bloodletting of Medicare. This is not a threat. This is for real.
Also, the president is threatening to veto this bill if it is approved by a majority in the Senate, so contacting President Bush about this dire circumstance is also in order.
