Letter: Dire situation in Iraq lost on conservatives
Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007 | 7:07 a.m.
I too was shocked by The Washington Post report that Larry Burgess refers to in his Aug. 7 letter, about the Pentagon misplacing 190,000 AK-47s and pistols in Iraq.
But he should realize that this information will not make any impression on conservatives, who refuse to believe negative reports published in The New York Times, The Washington Post or the Las Vegas Sun. They rely instead on their conservative network for information, papers such as The Wall Street Journal and conservative talk show hosts such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mike Savage and Bill O'Reilly, who regularly bash the Clintons, Kennedys, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, while singing the praises of President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and other members of the administration, as well as Republican leaders in Congress.
They have built a cocoon for themselves by denying any mainstream facts and information and totally believe President Bush when he promises "victory" in Iraq. It truly is sad to see so many of our fine military being killed to satisfy their fantasies.
