FLASHPOINT for Aug 07, 2007
Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007 | 7:04 a.m.
The national media keep ignoring Nevada in the presiden- tial race, but the candidates keep coming. This week John Edwards, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton will be here. And in a couple of weeks, a rare GOP visit as Mitt Romney comes here. The Democrats get it even though the national media and the Republicans (mostly) don't: Nevada will be the momentum-giver going into New Hampshire, no matter what happens in Iowa. And Edwards, Clinton and Obama are going to keep coming so they have a fail-safe if they don't do as well as expected in Iowa. We are the Glenn Close of "Fatal Attraction" in the presidential contest: We will not be ignored. And the candidates know - or they will know - that doing so could kill their chances.
