Letter: Personal income tax is immoral, tyrannical
Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 | 7:08 a.m.
If the hypocrites in Congress really wanted to do something for the citizens, something really exciting and historical, it would repeal the immoral tax on a citizen's labor ... also known as the personal income tax. The income the citizen receives for labor is not a profit.
This income is a fair trade: labor, skills, knowledge, abilities for a fair wage. Since that awful 16th Amendment was added to the U.S. Constitution in 1913, the government has been given unlimited power to intimidate, to steal assets, to increase its own power, and to keep the working person under control.
By taking the money that persons earn from their labor, the government is stealing the dream of families to live without fear of a tyrannical government and being able to take care of their own needs. Let the people keep their money to spend or save the way they want, without government interference. We don't need a "nanny" government, we're not children.
The government existed quite well before the immoral tax on labor, and it can do so again. I doubt there is a politician who has the guts or leadership to stand up and say enough of this income tax nonsense and who will work to eliminate the 16th Amendment. The ability to tax is the ability to destroy, and Congress has gone a long way in destroying the citizens' lives.
