Letter: Fault for climate change not proven
Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007 | 7:43 a.m.
In regard to Brian Greenspun's comments concerning global warming in his July 29 column, I think he needs to read fewer science fiction novels and pay a little more attention to reality.
Is the planet warming? You betcha. Is it mankind's fault? The evidence is not conclusive.
There is also evidence that temperatures on Mars, Uranus and Neptune are rising. Could all this warming have something to do with the huge nuclear reactor in the sky (the sun)?
The possibility must be considered but Mr. Greenspun and Al Gore have the blinders on so tight they'd rather destroy the western industrial economies than even consider the possibility of something other than mankind being responsible for our temperature changes.
This knee-jerk reaction to first and foremost blame all change on mankind in general and western economies in particular is typical of leftists who are always looking for a reason to deny individual freedom in favor of the collective state.
Let's continue to research climate and change, including what's going on in the rest of our solar system, before we embark on a head-first plunge to destroy our way of life.
