Letter: Bush fares worse than Democrats
Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007 | 7:58 a.m.
With regard to Art Molina's July 28 letter, not one statement was accurate.
First, Mr. Molina states that "the approval ratings of the Democratic Party are sinking so low." It's the ratings of Congress that are low, mainly because the Senate Republicans are able to filibuster (49 times so far this year) and the president has vetoed or threaten to veto legislation.
Second, his statement that "the ratings of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney are going up" is not true.
From January to June 10, Bush's approval ranged from 29 to 38 percent. Since June 11 it has ranged from 26 to 33 percent. How can anyone state that the ratings are going up?
Last, do the "glories" the author refers to include Bush invading a sovereign nation, which did not have WMDs, and now policing a civil war in which 3,652 American troops have died as of Tuesday and about 27,000 have been wounded?
