Letter: Learn from Vietnam: Let generals run war
Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007 | 7:17 a.m.
Iraq has many similarities to Vietnam, but the outcome does not have to be the same.
One of the biggest gripes about the Vietnam War was that the generals did not run the war, the politicians did.
Here we go again.
President Bush has asked us to allow the generals' new recommendations to be given a chance to work. We need to listen to the active generals and not some of the retired ones looking for a little face time on TV, whether they are for or against the new strategy.
