Letter: Fly flags at half-staff to honor fallen troops
Thursday, April 26, 2007 | 7:03 a.m.
L ast week the president ordered U.S. flags flown at half-staff for the tragedy at Virginia Tech. If we can fly the flag at half-staff for those lost in this horrific instance, why can't we fly the flag at half-staff for those fine Americans who sacrifice their lives every day in Iraq and Afghanistan?
I suggest we honor our troops and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice by flying the flag at half-staff, not as required by presidential order but by personal love and concern. We should do this until all our troops are returned from these theaters of occupation.
