Letter: Imus takes heat for culture of decadence
Monday, April 16, 2007 | 7:34 a.m.
The dismissal of radio and TV personality Don Imus is an issue that will be a topic of discussion for some time to come. Whatever the resolution, the basic problem still remains. Mr. Imus didn't create the language he quoted.
The people who write, record and publish this dreadful form of entertainment must share the blame, along with the entertainment outlets that specialize in promoting and exclusively playing these recordings.
Even worse are MTV programs, whose pulsating rhythms underline the very scantily clad performers, male and female alike, who gyrate and leave very little to one's imagination. Each year television awards shows keep rewarding these people.
The results of this are the many millions of dollars made by those who profit from this form of decadence.
