Letter: Bush’s follies not the Democrats’ fault
Saturday, April 7, 2007 | 7:19 a.m.
George W. Bush is quoted saying, "Democrats want to raise your taxes." What Bush doesn't say is that he and his Republican Party's deficit spending of the past six years has put our country hopelessly in debt.
This is because of careless and inadequate stewardship of our resources. Is there any fiscally responsible person in the country who does not know that to stay solvent an entity has to pay its bills and live within its means?
Don't we all know that the spendthrift policies of the Bush administration have put us at the mercy of our creditors (think China)? Or are members of the Republican Party all satisfied that our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be saddled with the debt of Bush's follies if we do not take action now to begin paying the piper ?
