Letter: Price of state photo ID to vote is only $6
Tuesday, April 3, 2007 | 7:14 a.m.
Your April 1 editorial opposing the required showing of photo identification at the voting polls simply because the cost of acquiring an official photo ID might be prohibitive in isolated cases is ludicrous.
I am 78 and no longer drive. So, I have an official Nevada ID card. It only costs $6 and never expires. Wow!
When I bought it in 2000, the only income for my wife and I was my monthly Social Security check. So your argument that a photo ID could be a financial burden on someone makes no sense at all.
Evidently the only ones who are indifferent to the probability of illegal immigrants using various fictitious names to obtain illegal voter registration cards in a variety of voting precincts are liberal judges, liberal newspapers and the liberal politicians who will benefit.
