Letter: Surely, Democrats can’t be worse than GOP
Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 | 7:32 a.m.
I'm outraged after hearing that the Superdome in New Orleans has been totally renovated and the casinos are up and running while thousands of people still are waiting to receive help from the government to help rebuild their homes.
The war in Iraq is raging out of control while this do-nothing Congress is more concerned about gay marriages and flag burning. This Congress takes the summer off without accomplishing anything. They get full-time pay for part-time work. They work about six days a month (about 76 days in a year). The lowest paid congressman makes $165,000 a year.
Meanwhile, all of a sudden, the Bush administration is taking credit for low gas prices. When the gas prices were high, the Bush administration claimed it had nothing to do with the high gas prices. Now, it is taking credit for the low prices. Doesn't it seem too convenient that the gas prices are low right before the November elections?
The Republicans say that the Democrats will raise taxes. Personally, I would rather pay my fair share of taxes as long as the rich pay their fair share. Right now, the burden of taxes are on the middle class while the rich get all the tax breaks.
The Republicans say that the Democrats have no plan for the war in Iraq. What is the Republicans' plan? Stay the course? Let more of our soldiers die?
It is time for a change, America.
I am not sure what the Democrats will do, but I feel that it cannot be any worse than what the Republicans are doing.
