Letter: It’s not Democrats who ‘cut and run’
Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006 | 7:15 a.m.
I find it amazing that the Republicans are talking about not electing Democrats because they will "cut and run" from Iraq.
If you will look at our recent history you will find that it is the Republicans who have "cut and run."
Dwight Eisenhower, a Republican, "cut and ran" from Korea. That fiasco is still going on.
Richard Nixon, a Republican, "cut and ran" from Vietnam, leaving the South Vietnamese to be slaughtered by the thousands.
Ronald Reagan, a Republican, "cut and ran" from Beirut after our 241 Marines were slaughtered; he did nothing about it.
Bush No. 1 "cut and ran" from Iraq without finishing the job, leaving thousands of Kurds to die after we encouraged them to stand up against Saddam.
Now we're back in Iraq and Bush No. 2 is saying that if Democrats are elected, they will "cut and run" from Iraq.
History shows which party "cuts and runs" from a war.
