FLASHPOINT for Sep 09, 2006

Talk about an uncomfortable situation just made more uncomfortable. But you could see it coming as soon as those unions filed the lawsuit alleging Commissioner Lynette Boggs McDonald should be taken off the ballot because of residency questions. Conveniently, union friend Tom Collins, who also happens to be a commissioner and Democratic Party boss, immediately unleashed a news release attacking his Republican colleague. "This is an obvious abuse of power, and a slap in the face to her constituents," Collins said in a Democratic Party news release. This is one of the reasons the unions love having him as chairman and one of the reasons it's always a bad idea to have an elected official be a party boss.
