Letter: Grateful Iraqis more prevalent than shown
Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006 | 7:14 a.m.
Recently, I spoke on separate occasions with two very proud fathers who have sons serving in the military over in Iraq. They had similar stories of the citizens of Iraq constantly coming up to them to thank them for being there, shaking their hands, offering them food and drink, inviting them into their homes to rest.
The gratitude shown by the vast majority of Iraqis, who want desperately to live in peace and safety, touched their sons deeply. And the Iraqis also were near unanimity in their belief that, despite Islamic fascist actions, conditions were far worse under the rule of Saddam Hussein.
Don't hear anything like that on the 6 o'clock news, do you?
