Letter: We need to deal with Muqtada al-Sadr

In 2004 we had a military confrontation with Muqtada al-Sadr, a Shiite cleric and his Mahdi army in Fallujah at a cost of 100-plus lives of American servicemen and servicewomen only to later let him have free rein in Sadr City, killing thousands of Sunni Arabs and spreading the insurgency throughout Iraq.

Muqtada al-Sadr and his Mahdi army in Iraq are the equivalent of Hezbollah in Lebanon, and in my opinion they have to be dealt with in a final military confrontation to end the violence in Iraq once and for all.

Are we waiting for the election to be over with to handle this problem? Or are we not getting it?
