Letter: Militarism alone can’t win the war on terror
Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006 | 7:26 a.m.
Regarding the thoughts and questions posed by David B. Wilson in his Oct. 27 letter, "Rather fight terror in Iraq than at home":
1. Wilson asks, why are the terrorists flocking into Iraq? We invited them in when we chose to make the world a better place by removing Saddam.
2. Regarding Wilson's belief that the flocking of terrorists into Iraq is not such a bad thing, because they will be killed by the forces. It is not bad, unless one cares about the innocents who have died and been injured, along with catastrophic collateral damage in Iraq. Unless you have the courage to believe that it is not OK to grind good folks into living hell so our corner of the world would seem immune from the consequences of war.
3. With respect to Wilson's question as to whether it is better to eliminate these terrorists in Iraq or fight them in the U.S.?:
