Editorial: Picks for JPs, constables

Justice of the Peace Ann Zimmerman is seeking re-election to Department 8. Zimmerman, before winning election in 2000, was a Nevada deputy attorney general. She is a well-respected judge and is deserving of another six-year term. The Sun endorses Ann Zimmerman.

Las Vegas Municipal Court Judge Abbi Silver is seeking election as justice of the peace in Department 10. Silver, a former prosecutor in the Clark County district attorney's office, has done an admirable job as a municipal judge and this experience would serve her well as a justice of the peace. The Sun endorses Abbi Silver.

North Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Natalie Tyrrell is seeking re-election to Department 2. Tyrrell's wide range of experience in both criminal and civil matters sets her apart. She also has been an active part of the community in North Las Vegas for 14 years. The Sun endorses Natalie Tyrrell.

The constable's offices in Southern Nevada, while not receiving much attention, shouldn't be overlooked. It is the job of the constables and their deputies to serve court papers along with enforcing evictions and court notices.

Robert "Bobby G." Gronauer, a Democrat, is seeking a third term as constable in Las Vegas. During his tenure, Gronauer has instilled professionalism in the office and has done a good job overall in carrying out his responsibilities. The Sun endorses Robert "Bobby G." Gronauer. In Henderson, Republican Earl Mitchell, who has more than 20 years experience as a police officer, is seeking re-election. Mitchell has overseen a well-run office and we see no reason for a change in leadership. The Sun endorses Earl Mitchell.
